🗣️Supporting Success Evening

A huge thank you to all parents and carers who joined us for our Supporting Success Evening on Monday. Your involvement makes a real difference and we truly appreciate your time and support. For those who couldn’t attend, a separate blog post is available with key information from the evening.

🎓 Post-16 Planning - Spotlight on Kingston Maurward College

This week we welcomed Kingston Maurward College, who introduced students to their specialist sixth form offer. With a focus on land-based and practical learning, they provide Level 2 and 3 qualifications in areas such as:

  • Animal Welfare
  • Agriculture
  • Equine
  • Outdoor Adventure
  • Horticulture

Their hands-on approach and amazing Dorset campus make them a unique choice for students seeking vocational pathways in land-based studies.

More details can be found on their website: College Open Events - Grow Your Career - Kingston Maurward College Next Tuesday, we’ll be joined by Bournemouth & Poole College. Please support us by ensuring students are seated in the hall by 8.30am for a prompt 8.40am start.

📚 Revision Booklets

This evening, each student will be bringing home a revision booklet. Please do take some time to go through it with them. The booklet outlines key information for each subject, strategies for effective revision and guidance on how to build a personalised revision timetable.

In tutor time and lessons, teachers have been instructed to go through the relevant information for their subject and show students the best ways to revise, including where to go for support and help. The curriculum and homework offer this half-term has been designed with these assessments in mind.

A separate blog post will be published on Monday with a link to the full document and some further guidance of how to support effective revision at home. This will also be uploaded to the students’ Revision Page on SharePoint, which includes:

  • Subject-specific resources
  • Revision guides
  • Timetable templates
  • Links to useful websites and videos

We’re encouraging students to take ownership of their preparation and use these resources to build confidence ahead of their assessments.

🍂 Attendance and Autumn Mornings

As the darker mornings begin to set in and students continue to work hard throughout the day; we recognise that maintaining strong attendance can feel more challenging. However, being in school every day remains the most significant factor in student success.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support you provide at home and ask for your continued encouragement in helping students make positive choices each morning.

💼 JP Morgan Programme

We’d like to wish the very best of luck to the students who signed up and were selected for the JP Morgan programme, which begins this week.

Students will start with a virtual workshop designed to help them make the most of their time with the organisation. They will then attend a two-day in-person experience at Bournemouth’s JPMorganChase office, engaging in interactive learning, networking and skill-building sessions. The programme concludes with a final virtual workshop aimed at further developing their professional skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity and we’re proud of those taking part.

2️⃣ Week 2 Update: Settling In, Stepping Up & Staying Focused

Hello Year 11 families! We’re now into the second week of the academic year, and it’s been fantastic to see our students settling into routines, embracing challenges, and showing real commitment to making this year count. Here’s your weekly roundup of everything happening in Year 11. It’s been a brilliant start across the school. Teachers are challenging students, and students are rising to meet those expectations with hard work and focus. Feedback from staff and learning walks has been overwhelmingly positive - professional relationships between students and teachers are strong, and the mantra “hard now, easy later” is really taking root. As Head of Year, I’ve been genuinely proud to see this level of dedication from the very first week. There’s a real thirst for success, despite the soggy weather, spirits weren’t dampened - especially during school photo day!
